Joshua’s Farm, Sandisfield MA
The old pastures were overgrown in 1996 when the land was purchased. When cut back, it reveals the old bones of stone walls from the original farm.
A barn was raised in 2008, the old bones of fields were revealed and fenced, and the finest milking shorthorn heifers were bought in Vermont and New Hampshire and delivered in the back of a pickup truck.
The breed is the very heirloom variety that would have grazed this land in the 1700s- noted not so much for its milk volume as its creaminess. Now joining the heifers are meat and egg-laying chickens, including Auracanas and Bantams and Barred Rocks, all of whom are given plenty of space to roam.

The Farm, New Marlbourgh, MA
The Farm New Marlborough is a small family farm with huge ambitions. Our focus is to heal and improve New Marlborough's lands through intensive rotational grazing of our animals. We build soil to feed the earthworms below the ground and the animals above it. Our mission is simple... to grow quality food in a respectable and complementary way to both the animals and the environment and to rebuild a local food economy through education and example.
